In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 23 read with Section 10 (b), (g), (p), and (q) of the AICTE Act, 1987, the AICTE makes the following regulations for the prevention and prohibition of ragging in technical institutions.
These regulations may be called the All India Council for Technical Education (Prevention and Prohibition of Ragging in Technical Institutions, Universities including Deemed to be Universities imparting technical education) Regulations 2009. They shall come into force on the date of notification.
In view of the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, these regulations aim to prohibit, prevent, and eliminate ragging in all higher education institutions, ensuring healthy development physically and psychologically for all students.
Ragging includes actions that cause annoyance, hardship, or psychological harm, and acts that generate shame, torment, or embarrassment.
