Mechanical Engineering program revolves around concepts such as designing, manufacturing and working of machines and tools, parts of machines and their design, concepts of physics etc. As a result, students will come across subjects focusing of machines, such as- Theory of Machines, Dynamics of Machines etc.
The Mechanical Engineering Department of RCP, Roorkee is fully equipped to meet the requirements of Diploma (Mechanical) course. It has highly qualified and experienced faculty, most of those are product of engineering college of very high repute such as IIT, NIT and other engineering institutes of national and international fame.

Eligibility Criteria For Admission
For Polytechnic Course(Diploma)
Candidate should have passed 10th Standard
Lateral Entry in Polytechnic :
Candidate should have passed 12th with Science subjects or with vocational/technical subjects or 10 + 2 years ITI with appropriate specialization.
Admission Process
• Admissions to the aspiring boys and girls candidates seeking to undertake Diploma Education shall strictly follow the rules and norms of admission.
• The admissions will be strictly on the basis of merit.
• 20% seat of intake are Filled at the Institute level and on the basis of merit
• 80%seats of the institute of each course are filled in through the Centralized Admission Procedure ( CAP) Conducted by Uttrakhand Board of Technical Education, Roorkee ( UBTER) through online submission procedure
Admission of outside State (OMS) Candidate in unaided Polytechnic
If, after exhaustion of the general merit list of the candidates from Uttrakhand State there are some seats vacant in the unaided polytechnic, the candidates from the other states and Union Territories may be considered by preparing a separate merit list of these candidates these admissions shall be done by the Director/Principal(Roorkee College of Polytechnic, Roorkee)
Admission at Institute Level
• An advertisement shall be placed in the leading newspapers.
• Students desiring admission shall submit an application to the institute
• Eligible students shall be admitted on the basis of their merit
• At the time of admission students are required to pay requisite fees as prescribed by Roorkee College of Polytechnic, Roorkee and submit original documents of academic qualification and 4 passport size photographs.
